Arthur A. Kahler

December 13, 1949 — July 21, 2020

Forestport- Arthur A. Kahler, 70, of Bellingertown Road, husband of Kathleen, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, while surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Hospice. Arthur was born in Utica, on December 13, 1949, a son of Clarence and Nellie Lenard Kahler. He grew up on Schuyler St. and was educated at Kernan School and at a trade school. From 1969 until his honorable discharge on November 22, 1971, with the rank Sergeant, he served his country in the US Air Force, during the Viet Nam War. After serving his country, Mr. Kahler returned to Utica, where he was employed for many years as an auto mechanic at A-1 Auto Salvage Yard, on Barnes Ave. in Utica. On March 26, 1969, Arthur was united in marriage with Kathleen A. Janusz in Utica. Later the couple lived in Barneveld, before moving to their present home near Forestport in 1983. For many years Art was employed in the Forestport area as a carpenter, landscaper and property caretaker. He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and spending time outdoors. His daughter, Christine cherishes memories of pheasant hunting with Art; his son, Art cherishes memories of working on construction of his grandkids club house. For many years, Art and his family greatly looked forward to their annual trip to the New York State Fair. In later years Art greatly enjoyed hunting with his nephews, Tim and David. In addition to his wife, Kathleen, Arthur is survived by one daughter and son in law, Christine and Travis Dam, Whitesboro; one son and daughter in law, Art and Danielle Kahler, Westernville; four grandchildren, Riley and Jacob Dam, Lucas and Mollie Kahler; one sister, Louise Cooper. He was predeceased by four sisters, Joyce, Lillian, Pauline and Gloria and by a brother, Clarence. Also surviving is his special friends Angel and Santos. Art's family wishes to extend a note of sincere appreciation to Dr. Desai and Windy Mitchell. In keeping with his wishes services will be private; there is no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, New York 13413.
