Arsa W. Weiman

Constableville- Arsa W. Weiman, age 99, a native of Highmarket and lifelong resident of Constableville, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown. More recently, Arsa had resided at Samaritan Summit Village, near Watertown. Arsa grew up in Highmarket and graduated from Constableville High School, with the Class of 1934. Thereafter he was employed for several years in logging on Tug Hill. Mr. Weiman enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country during WWII, from 1941-1945. For three years he was a member of the 3rd Infantry Regiment and for 18 months, he was a member of the A.G.F. Replacement Center, Fort Meade, MD. His service in WWII also included being stationed for eighteen months in Greenland. Mr. Weiman was honorably discharged as Tech SGT, Acting 1st on September 24, 1945. Arsa was united in marriage with Judith Ann DeCoursey of Minneapolis, MN, on May 13, 1944. After serving his country, in the fall of 1945, the couple settled on a dairy farm near Constableville, which he and his brother operated until Arsa was appointed Postmaster at the Constableville Post Office, in 1966. He retired from the Post Office in 1984. Mr. Weiman was a kind person who found much joy in serving and helping other people. He was an active member of the Constableville United Methodist Church, serving for many years as a Trustee, custodian and lay reader. Arsa enjoyed hunting and fishing and while on vacation he and his wife camped and traveled throughout 48 states of the United States. In the words of his children, Arsa was a fantastic father and friend to all. He is survived by three sons, Paul Joseph Weiman, Washington D.C., Jerry Frederick (Karen) Weiman, Watertown, Alan James (Barbara) Weiman, West Reading, PA; one daughter, Carol (Chuck) Bergeron, Sussex, NJ; seven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Judith Ann, on June 11, 2004 and by two brothers, Howard J. Weiman, Inlet and Roger G. Weiman, Turin. His Funeral Service will be on Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where calling hours are Sunday 1 P.M. until 3 P.M. Interment in the spring will be in Constableville Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Constableville United Methodist Church, Constableville, NY 13325.
