Hammond - Arnold J. Kirk, 78, husband of Janice, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 following injuries sustained in a logging accident. He was born on December 19, 1937 in New Hartford a son of Edwin J. and Gertrude Lawton Kirk. Arnold was raised in Constableville where he received his education. He entered the US Navy on April 26, 1956 and served stateside until his honorable discharge on October 29, 1957. Arnold was united in marriage with Jennie M. Carlsson on May 23, 1959 at St. Mary's Church, Constableville. The couple then settled in Camden where Arnold was employed with Camden Wire Co., and for Camden Central School, where he drove school bus route "T" for twelve years. In 1976 the couple moved their family to the Mohawk Hill Road, Constableville where they together operated a dairy farm. Jennie passed away on December 23, 1988. Arnold married Janice E. Burns on October 12, 1991 in Chippewa Bay. The couple settled in Hammond, where for several years they have owned A & J Riding Stables, a horse farm they operated at their residence. Arnold enjoyed woodworking and running his sawmill, as well as playing pool. Besides his wife Janice, he is survived by his children Carol (Harry) Spoor and friend Brian Maida, Cold Brook, Christine (Joseph) Bissonette, and Colleen Richer, both of Maine, and a son Robert Kirk, Georgia, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his step-children Dianna (Kim) Shaver, Hammond, Joan Duncan, North Carolina, Dale Milsap, Paul Milsap and companion Regan, all of Hammond, several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Henry (Sandra) Kirk, Lockport, Juanita (Ira) Yousey, New Bremen, Chester Kirk, Allen Kirk and companion Dorothy Rose, and Mary Jane (LaVerne) Ayers, all of Constableville, and Ronnie Kirk and companion Loni Smith, Boonville. He was predeceased by his brother Gerald in 1967 and sister Shirley Durgin in 1969. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 16, at 1:00 pm at St. Mary's Church, Constableville, with Rev. Lawrence Marullo, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Constableville. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 10:00 am to 12:00 Noon at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
