Sr., passed away peacefully, on Saturday, February 6, 2021, after a long illness, in the comfort of her residence while surrounded by the loving care of her husband, family and hospice. Affectionately known by many as "Ardie," she was born in Rome, on May 22, 1941, a daughter of Charles and Pearl Geraldine Stocker Comins. She grew up in Camden and West Leyden, where she completed her education at West Leyden Central High School. On April 10, 1959, Arden was united in marriage with James P. Burke, Sr., at the Camden United Methodist Church. This was a marriage which for 61 years was blessed with love and affection and children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many happy occasions and family gatherings. The role of wife, mother and homemaker was Ardie's great focus during her life; she had the ability to accomplish any task, which she endeavored to do and always with excellent results. She proved herself to be a natural "mechanic" who could fix or repair anything from the kitchen sink to an engine. Ardie greatly enjoyed attending garage sales and flee markets; she was a talented artist who could create anything from nothing. She found much pleasure in drawing and wood carving which she did on the cupboards and cabinets in her home. She also loved music boxes and porcelain dolls and enjoyed a large collection of both. In addition to her loving husband, James, Ardie is survived by her children and their spouses; David Burke, Stephen (Rebecca) Burke, Jeffrey (Dodi) Burke all of Point Rock; nine grandchildren, Brandi Nieto, Jeremi Burke, Ian Burke, Jacob Burke, Stephen Burke, Brandon Burke, Brittany Pizarro, Ashley Russell and Samantha Russell; great grandchildren, Caitlyn McCanney, Hailey McCanney, James McCanney, Oliviah Burke, Jayden Burke, Tristan Burke, Amarah Burke, Charles J. Burke, Dylan Burke, Landon Allen, Sam Pizarro, Hunter Pizarro, Keegan Abbott and Mariah Artz and by one sister, Brenda Hendricks and by a former daughter in law, Billie Jo Liyanage, Rome. She was predeceased by a son, James P. Burke, Jr., on June 25, 2002, a grandson, Dylan Burke, in 2013; a sister, Arlene Johnson; two brothers, Keith Comins and Bruce Comins. Ardie's family wishes to express a note of heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care and to Ardie's kind and loving caregivers, Melday Miller and Virginia Sykes for the excellent care and attention they afforded during Ardie's illness.
