Anthony D. "Tony" Pignone, Jr., 64, of Murphy Road, husband of Debra, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2006, at University Hospital in Syracuse, where he was a patient since June 24, 2006. He was born in Carthage, on April 30, 1942, a son of Anthony and Antoinette DeCillus Pignone. Tony grew up in Carthage, where he graduated from St. Augustinian Academy with the Class of 1960. He served in the U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserves on August 31, 1968. After his army service, he moved to his present home near Port Leyden. For over thiry years Mr. Pignone, was employed in the paper manufacturing industry, first for Carthage Paper Co., and then Georgia Pacific Paper Company of Lyons Falls, retiring in 1992 from Lyons Falls Pulp and Paper as the chip room operator. He is the current owner of Hog Heaven Bar in Port Leyden, and he greatly enjoyed gardening. A marriage to Ruth Santamour ended in divorce. Mr. Pignone was a member of Boonville Elks Lodge, # 2158, Charles J. Love Post American Legion, and Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W., both of Boonville. On October 22, 1977, he was married to Debra Mooney in Lyons Falls. In addition to his wife, Debra, Tony is survived by two daughters; Sue and Tony Guarino, Canastota, Kim McCauley, and husband, Jay, Port Leyden, three sons; David Damuth and wife, Missy, Taberg, Tony (Pork) Pignone, Shawn Pignone, both at home, four grandchildren; Dylan, Dawson, Anthony, and Wyatt. He was predeceased by a grandson, Dustin Kent. Also surviving are two brothers; Carl and wife Louise Pignone, Black River, James and wife, Candy, Carthage, three sisters; Rosie and Walt Barker, Priscilla and Oral Campbell, Phyllis Schwendy and Donald, all of Carthage. He was predeceased by a brother, Michael, and a sister, Lena. His funeral service will be Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor Robert Stoudt, of the Lyons Falls Bible Fellowship Church officiating. Interment will be in Pennysettlement Cemetery, Town of Lyonsdale, where members of Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W., and the Tun Tavern Marine Corps League will provide Military Rites. Calling hours are Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Port Leyden Fire Co. Ambulance Fund.
