Ann M. Johnston

January 24, 1956 — February 14, 2024

Forestport- Ann M. (Lawrence) Johnston, 68, of West River Street and wife of Dale E., passed away, after a brief illness, while surrounded by the loving care of her husband and family, on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse.


Ann was born in Little Falls, NY, on January 24, 2024, a daughter of William and Beatrice Wandover Lawrence. She grew up in Frankfort, where she received her education and graduated from Frankfort-Schuyler High School, with the Class of 1975. While in high school, Ann took classes in nursing and after graduation, for a time, she was employed at Ilion Hospital.


On May 17, 1980, Ann was untied in marriage with the love of her life, Dale E. Johnston. In 1982, the couple settled at their present home in the hamlet of Forestport. For thirty-three years Mrs. Johnston was employed as a teacher and caregiver at United Cerebral Palsy, in Boonville. She retired in 2018.


Ann was a lover of many things, but above all else was her family. She truly enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and musicals. She was always the loudest and proudest spectator for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed baking, fishing, gardening and music. Her heart of gold and charismatic personality made her a wonderful teacher and caregiver over the years. Ann greatly enjoyed camping with her family at North Lake and at many other Adirondack campsites.



Ann is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Dale Johnston, her two sons and their wives: Dale (Chris) Johnston Jr. of Oriskany, and Eric (Jennifer) Lawrence of Boonville, grandchildren: Brianna, Shawn, Elizabeth, Ashley, Kyle, Nash, Memphis, Joey, and Zackary, her great-grandchildren: Luka and Oakland, mother Beatrice Lawrence of Herkimer, twin brother William Conrad (Lora) Lawrence, Herkimer, her brother Kenneth (Anne Marie) Lawrence, Frankfort, a brother Larry (Debbie) Lawrence, Gloucestershire, VA, sister Linda (Kimberly) Lawrence, Herkimer, her sister Diane Forbes, Forestport, son-in-law Joe Ford of Utica, brother-in-law Sean Murphy of Herkimer, and her sister-in-law Teri Trippen Hight of Richfield Springs. She also leaves behind many friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews.


She is predeceased by her father William Lawrence, mother-in-law Katherine Johnston, father in law Carl Johnston, daughter Sarah Johnston, grandson Lucas Lawrence, sister Patricia Murphy, nephew Nick Lawrence, and uncle Hubie Wandover.


In keeping with her wishes there will be no calling hours and a private interment service will be held at Rural Park Cemetery, Ingham Mills. Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of her life, on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 1-5 P.M. at the Boonville Elks Lodge, State Rt. 12, Boonville. Memorial contributions in memory of Ann, may be made to the Lucas Lawrence Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Adirondack Central School, 110 Ford St. Boonville, NY 13309. Her arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
