West Leyden- Alvin J. "Jim" Weiler, 59, of Mowers Road, husband of Margaret, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 29, 2008, of injuries from a logging accident in the Town of Ava. A life long resident of West Leyden, he was born in Constableville, on April 16, 1949, a son of Alvin J., Sr. and Helen LaQuay Weiler. Mr. Weiler graduated from West Leyden Central School with the Class of 1967. On October 30, 1967, he was united in marriage with Margaret L. Diehl at St. Mary's Church, West Leyden. In 1978 the couple settled on the Mowers Rd. near West Leyden. Alvin was a life long logger and truck driver, having started in the logging business with his father at the age of fourteen, working with him for several years, before establishing his own business that covered Lewis Co., and northern New York State. The greatest joys of his life were his family, especially his grandchildren, and his fire wood business. His motto was to work hard everyday. He also enjoyed attending the Woodsmen's Field Days in Boonville. Mr. Weiler was a member of St. Mary's Nativity Church, West Leyden. In addition to his wife, Margaret, he is survived by two daughters and sons in law; Melissa L Norton, and Paul W., Baldwinsville, Amanda J. Lampman, and Ryan J. Boonville, two sons and daughters in law; Glen R. Weiler and Karon D. (correct spelling), Deerfield, Adam J. Weiler, and Charisma L., Boonville, his parents, Alvin and Helen Weiler, West Leyden, seven grandchildren; Ryan, Kiersten, Gregory, Victoria Norton, Joshua and Jesse Weiler, Brock Weiler, his beloved dog "Jack," three brothers and sisters in law; Gary Weiler and Robin, Taberg, Terry Weiler and Tammy, West Leyden, Wayne Weiler, and Tina, Boonville, four sisters and three brothers in law; Sally Clarke, Utica, Nancy Dumont and Brian, West Leyden, Susan Malek and Rick, Frankfort, Carol Dykstra, and James, Monroe, NY, many, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. His funeral will be Sunday at 4:00 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Rev. Lawrence Marullo, pastor of St. Mary's Church of West Leyden will officiate. Calling hours are Sunday 1-4 P.M. at the funeral home.
