Alexander E. Kilb, 89, of East River Street, husband of Belle E. Kilb, passed away Monday, April 2, 2007, at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where he had resided since September 2004. Alex was born September 5, 1917, a son of Edward and Mae Wandover Kilb, in the Town of Russia, where he grew up in the area and attended rural schools. On September 18, 1940 he was united in marriage Belle E. Agley at Trinity Episcopal Church Rectory, Boonville. Alex was employed in many occupations in the area, including logger and truck driver. For many years he was employed at Honnedaga as a caretaker, head carpenter and truck driver, and later for Gilbert Butler in Forestport as a caretaker. The couple have resided at their present home for 64 years. Alex was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Boonville, and formerly of Christ Episcopal Church, Forestport. He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, working in his workshop, building birdhouses, sharpening saws, and visiting with friends and neighbors. He was a good friend and neighbor to the residents of Forestport. In addition to his wife, Belle, he is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Walter and Stewart, and by a sister, Hazel Bellinger. Funeral service for Mr. Kilb will be at 10 am Thursday at the Trainor Funeral Home, 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Rev. Mother Linda Logan, Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church of Boonville, will officiate with the Requiem Eucharist. Interment will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Forestport. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sunset Nursing Home Resident Activities Fund, 232 Academy St., Boonville, NY 13309.
