Albert J. Toth, 92, a long time resident of the Marmon Road, husband of the late Loretta Russell Toth, passed away Tuesday evening, February 14, 2006, at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Boonville, where he had resided since October of 2005. Mr. Toth was born December 25, 1913 in Middletown, Ohio, a son of Andrew and Sophia Miller Toth. He resided in Lyonsdale for most of his life. He married Loretta Russell on October 5, 1935 in the Forest Presbyterian Church, Lyons Falls, and was a loving and caring husband unitl she passed away on April 21, 1993. He worked at the paper mill in Lyonsdale (Moyer & Pratt) early in their marriage. Then he and his wife started a logging business, employing local men to work with them in many logging camps and sites throughout the Adirondack region. He later went into construction, using his skills in electrical, plumbing, welding, mechanical, carpentry, operating heavy equipment, and was a NYS registered crane operator. He was employed with different companies including Lewis County and Law Bros. Construction Co., Lyons Falls, retiring in 1980. Mr. Toth was interested in his community, holding such offices as Justice of the Peace and Town Superintendent. After retirement he attended meetings and took an interest in environmental, town and county issues, and tried to make a difference by voicing his opinions and writing letters. Mr. Toth enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading and spending most every weekend from spring to fall for over 40 years with his family at their Lake Bonaparte camp. He was a member of the Masons for over 50 years, for the past several years with the Boonville-Uriel Masonic Lodge in Boonville, and helped periodically with community affairs. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, Kalfalka Hunting Club and the Lake Bonaparte Conservation Club. Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-laws: Robert and Patricia Toth, LeRoy and Janet Toth; two daughters: Joan Goodfellow and Nancy Young and her companion John Wetmore, all of Lyonsdale; two sisters: Margaret Raphael of Vernon, NJ, and Elizabeth Lustyik of Port Leyden; fourteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John (Jerry) Toth of Hawaii, and a sister, Julia Welch of Port Leyden. His Funeral Service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor Robert Stoudt, of the Lyons Falls Bible Fellowship Church will officiate. A spring interment will be in Port Leyden Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home, where members of Boonville-Uriel Masonic Lodge will conduct a service at 7:30 p.m..
