~~Constableville- Albert H. Menard, 88, formerly of Kotary Road, Fish Creek, husband of Eleanor, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Presbyterian Home for Central New York, in New Hartford. A native of Utica, he was born on July 15, 1928, a son of Henry and Flora Simard Menard. Albert grew up in West Utica, graduating from Utica Catholic Academy, with the Class of 1946. In August, 1946, Mr. Menard enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country during the post WWII era, occupation of Korea, until his honorable discharge with the rank of Technician Fifth Grade, in December, 1947. After serving his country, Albert returned to Utica, where he was employed for Gilbert & Knight and W.G. Simard, heating and plumbing companies. Later he founded Menard & Sons, heating and plumbing company, before becoming a partner in BGM Supply Co. for many years until he retired in 1992. On August 4, 1951, Albert was united in marriage with Eleanor J. Saladin, at Sacred Heart Church, in West Utica. From the mid 1950s, until 1992, when they relocated to Kotary Road, near Constableville, the Menards resided on Westmoreland Street, Whitesboro. For many years the couple were members of St. Pauls Church, Whitesboro; after moving to the Town of Lewis, they were members of St. Peters and Pauls Church, Fish Creek and St. Marys Church, West Leyden. Albert greatly enjoyed playing cards, camping, keeping a journal and following NASCAR. In addition to his wife, Eleanor, Albert is survived by his children, Barbara (Rod) Westbrook, Deerfield, Lawrence (Diane) Menard, Sauquoit, Mary (Paul) Shaw, Plant City, FL, Brian (Kathy) Menard, Boonville, Nancy Seelman, Turin, Ann (Peter) Croneiser, Old Forge and Karen (Larry) Gilpin, Dover DE; his grandchildren: Joe (Meghan) Dote, Marcy, Christine Dote, Rochester, William Menard, Cassandra Menard, Robert Menard, all of Sauquoit, Rebecca Lichorowic, Newark, Cynthia Lichorowic, Raleigh, NC, Jane Lichorowic, Rochester, Theresa Card, Limestone, ME, Patricia (Nick) Gallo, Boonville, Raymond (Kirtstie) Menard, Portland, ME, Danielle (Jeff) Abrial, Otter Lake, Emily Croneiser, Cobleskill, and Dakota Gilpin, DE; great grandchildren, Sawyer and Riley Dote, both of Marcy, Ryan Card, Presque Isle, ME, Trevor and Alexis Gallo, Boonville and Kimberly Abrial, Otter Lake and one great great grandchild, Rilynn Card, Presque Isle, ME. Also surviving is a brother, Ronald Menard, Niantic, CT; sisters in law, Theresa Cackett, Utica, Fran Welch, Oriskany and Janice Marfone, Forestport and brothers in law, Thomas Saladin, Oriskany and Robert Saladin, Mt. Dora, FL. Albert was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Flora Menard, his in-laws, Leo and Louise Saladin, a daughter, Linda Menard, a son in law, Robert Seelman, a sister, Sister Rose Marie Menard, C.S.J., brothers in law, Wilfred and wife, Jane Saladin, Vincent and wife, Bertha Saladin, Earl Cackett, Elmer Welch and sisters in law, Mary and husband, George Allen, Norma Saladin and Sandy Menard. Alberts family extends a note of heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Willow Wing for the compassionate care which they extended to their father. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Marys Nativity Church, West Leyden, where Rev. Lawrence Marullo, pastor will officiate.
