Constableville- Jerome Anthony Kraeger, 60, of West Street, Constableville, NY passed away on Sunday, August 13th, 2023.
Jerome, affectionately known as Jerry, was born and raised in Constableville. As a child he served as an alter boy at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Constableville. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America. Jerry attended South Lewis Jr-Sr High School, Turin, NY graduating in the Class of 1981. While in high school Jerry played football, ran track, and was on the Varsity Boys Wrestling Team. On September 15th, 1984 he was united in marriage to Kathleen “Kate” Donahue at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Paschal Ryes officiating. Their marriage lasted 38 years until the time of Jerry’s passing. Together they dedicated their lives to each other and their children. Jerry and Kate loved everything in life and most recently their travels to Acadia National Park, Maine, Glenn Curtiss Museum, Blue Mountain Lake, Black Lake and annual Super Chevy Shows in Pennsylvania. Jerry shared his passion for motocross racing with his son Mike and brother John and enjoyed watching his daughter Sarah’s softball games and dance recitals. He shared rebuilding cars with his children working on Mike’s 1979 GMC pickup truck and Sarah’s 1980 Camaro. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, playing cards, chess, riding his motorcycle, spending time with his grandchildren, and rebuilding small engines. Jerry was a correctional officer with the New York State Department of Corrections for 27 years until his retirement in 2010.
In addition to his wife Kate and canine companion Duke, Jerry is survived by his parents, Albert and Mary Kraeger, a son Mike (Gretchen) Kraeger, Lyons Falls, a daughter Sarah (Mike) Metott, Glenfield, six grandchildren: Logan, Keegan, Braden, Lincoln, Olivia, and Lane, siblings: Diane (Doug) Markham, West Leyden, Mary (Steve) Wilton, Constableville, Joanne (Chad) Sherwood, Belchertown MA, Beth (Bill) Lamanna, Constableville, and John (Debora) Kraeger, Stanley NY. Bother-in-law Tom (Colleen) Donahue, Holland Patent; Sisters-in-law: Maureen (Dan) O’Brien, Boonville, Rita (Pat) Tierney, Marcellus NY, Peggy (Kent) Wooten, Edgewater, FL, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation hours from 3-6 P.M., on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the “Shawn O’Brien Memorial Scholarship Fund” to 4792 State Route 12, Glenfield, NY 13343.
