Obituary of Walter Bickford

~~Boonville- Walter Eugene Bickford, 79, of West St. passed away suddenly at his residence on Friday, October 13, 2017.  He was born in Alder Creek, on August 15, 1938, a son of Charles and Magdaline S. Bronkoski Bickford.  Walt grew up in Alder Creek, later moving to Boonville, where he completed his education at Boonville Central School.  While in high school, he excelled in playing basketball and baseball.   For 42 years until retiring in 2000, Walt was employed at Revere Copper & Brass as a rolling mill operator.  Walter wed Betty Hrim in 1961; later the marriage ended in divorce.

 Mr. Bickford was a member of Boonville Elks Lodge # 2158 and he was an avid card player who participated in various area pitch leagues.  He also was a NY Yankee Baseball fan and Walt enjoyed the game of horseshoes, swimming and was an accomplished bowler in his earlier years. 

 Walt is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Tina and Lynn Zeigler, Boonville and Brenda and Jack Breen, Town of Lee; grandchildren Desiree and Tyler Saladin, Clay, Michael Breen, Boonville, Brittaney and James Alger, West Leyden and Ryan and Samantha Zeigler, West Leyden, great-grandchildren: Colton and Caden Saladin, Clay, and one sister, Rose Crofoot, New Port Richey, FL.  Also surviving is his special buddy “Tupper” who he loved playing tug of war with.  

 Visitation hours are Monday 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, followed by a graveside service at 1:30 P.M. at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Boonville.  Memorial contributions may be made to Village of Boonville Summer Recreation Program C/O Boonville Village Office Building Rt. 12, Boonville, NY 13309.
